Im a car guy. Been a car guy since grade school. I work on my own cars all the time and I currently work in the automotive repair industry. This time I had an issue with my car that developed a water pump leak. I would’ve done the work myself, but i paid for a warranty with CarMax. Why not use it? I went to Brentwood transmission first because they were near my job, it was more convenient, and they were in the “warranty repair network”. They to tried to make me pay $1174 out of pocket. Brentwood transmission stated “ your warranty is only covering a part of the repairs, and we recommend replacing the upper and lower radiator hoses because they are soft and contaminated with coolant”.. seriously???? Hoses are supposed to be soft, if they are hard, then that’s time to replace them. And contaminated with coolant?? It’s a coolant hose! I sure hope the coolant won’t eat through the coolant hose! Not only that, they marked up the price of the water pump $100 more than retail price from the dealer. Even being in the automotive industry, I have forgotten the stigma about repair shops and body shops being crooks and screwing customers over. Brentwood transmissions reminded me of this and how it is still very present. Anyways, I brought my car to D&k and it was just smooth and easy throughout the whole process. Angel and Mike were of great help. They confirmed the whole repair would be covered and I would only pay my deductible. D&K is truly about the customer through and through. I will be bringing my car back here if any further warranty work is needed.
